If we teach today the way we were taught yesterday we aren’t preparing students for today or tomorrow. At St Francis we recognise the importance of helping students become independent and motivated learners. In a world that is rapidly changing, children need more than just knowledge. They need to develop skills and attitudes that will help them to become confident learners and successful individuals. Our curriculum aims to support this development by matching learning experiences to the identified needs of each student.
Our school community believes that learning is natural, creative and ongoing.
Each child is a precious and sacred gift from God created as an individual with their own unique talents and abilities.
At St Francis School we are embracing a developmental curriculum based on the Victorian Essential Learnings, the new Australian Curriculum and the Early Years Framework.
We recognise that the most powerful learning occurs when students are actively and emotionally involved. As they move up through the school, students are encouraged to take a greater degree of ownership over the learning process. By doing this, we are helping students to develop the skills and dispositions needed for a lifetime of learning.
